Hey everyone, you might remember me from posting about this same mower a few months back, I've made a lot of progress and I'm almost fully functional!
Since my original post (http://www.mylawnmowerforum.com/foru...07-engine.html), I've gotten the mower at least 95% functional, my main issue with starting was the solenoid wasn't working right, but that looks like it was just a bad contact and it's working great now :D
So now I'm able to get the mower running, well, kinda! To get it to start you have to play with the throttle a lot, and get a ton of backfires along the way. After a couple tries tho, the mower usually comes right to life with the throttle set a bit above halfway, and it'll run pretty OK, but still backfiring here and there.
I'm almost to being able to cut grass, which I tried the other day. On the bright side, the belt, deck and blades all run strong for the first time since I've owned the mower! but on the bad side, the mower goes into backfiring fits the whole way, but not dying, I usually ended up shifting the mower into neutral and adjusting the choke until they stopped.
When I got this mower, I could swear it had a different throttle control rod on it, which ran well but broke when I tried to get the mower running after sitting for awhile. The one I've replaced it is the same one the engine's part diagram recommends.
Sorry for all the text, but what I'm getting at is does it look like I have this throttle set up right? and if I do, how can I fix the backfiring? Adjusting the carburetor maybe? What I can't understand is if I have this set up right, why doesn't the mower start in the CHOKE position? If somebody could explain how this whole mess is supposed to work I'd be very grateful ;)
Thanks everyone, if you need any more pics or have any questions just ask!
Here's some pics of the throttle in action-

2-Throttle set half-way
3-Throttle set all the way up to choke
