I recently purchased a Craftsman lt1000 1998 model 917-271661 with a Hydro Gear 322-0510 hydrostat.
I have just adjusted the brake since they weren't working correctly.
The issue that I have is that the mower jumps or grabs When I move hydrostat lever forward the mower will jump as if I just slammed the level all the way forward. I have a small lip at the end of my garage and when I slowly approach it the mower will stop moving for a few seconds, then engage and jump forward. I have a small hill in my yard and when I and mowing down the hill the mower will speed up for a few seconds and then slow down to the speed it was set to.
I have done some research and I am unsure of how to move forward.
None of the symptoms that I have would indicate that I need to purge the system.
The belt appears to be ok. It doesnt look like it is slipping.
I dont see any leaks around the hydrostat housing so I dont think that it is low on oil.
Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?
TIA
Roger
