New to me DYT4000 with problems

Just bought a 2004 DYT4000 with only 150 hours. Started several times with no problems before purchase. Everything was pristine. Got it home and ran it two times then put it to bed for the night. Next day it would not start. Went thru all the electrical and switch protocols. Finally checked the coil and was not getting spark. Removed the kill wire and still no spark. Pulled the plug and fuel mix visible coming thru the plug hole. Ordered a new coil and installed. Started right up. Let it run for a few minutes and shut it down. Buttoned everything up and tried to start. No joy! There is again no spark even with the kill wire removed. Magnets have been cleaned, filters changed new fuel and plug. BS protocol sheet on the coil says it almost never fails unless there is voltage on the kill wire. Guess that would kill the transistor in the coil. Any ideas on where to go from here? Anyone encountered this problem? Is there any possibility of 12 volts being put to ground wire thru the key switch? In the brief period it was running, the ammeter showed charging, so I think the voltage regulator and stator are not in the equation. Outside of putting a separate ground kill wire to a toggle, where do I look? New coils could get expensive.

thanks /J
