Craftsman No-Start...

Good day!

My neighbour brought over an older model Craftsman push mower wanting me to have a look at it. The mower seems to not be firing at all. The mower blade was severely bent and twisted indicating a heavy debris strike.

I then examined the flywheel and key and found that although the key did not shear, the flywheel was cracked slightly and had slid out of firing timing by about 2 or 3 degrees at the most.

I know that the flywheel being out of time will cause a 'no-start' condition on a lawn mower, however I would like to ask if such a small margin of timing error of only a couple of degrees would cause a complete no-start.

I don't want to spend a wad of money on replacing the cracked flywheel if it turns out to be something else that needs replacing in order to get this mower running again.

Any help or advice reference this issue would be most sincerely appreciated. Many thanks...
