Well here is the official rebuild thread for my new to me Kwik way loader. Since it's going on the 816 I opted to put the thread here. If the mods want to move it some where else that's fine.
I'm also here was a member there too so in the interest of more people seeing this and maybe having ideas to share I'd mirror the thread here.
The overall plan of attack is fix the hydraulics, new hoses and the hard lines as needed. Go over the framework and fix any issues found there, fit it to the tractor, test it out to make sure everything works as it should and then completely tear it back apart for fresh paint.
So far I have managed to take a few things apart and cleaned up. The bucket cylinders are off, pulled apart (that was fun) and almost ready to go get new rods made. Both are pitted and the cross tubes are seriously rusted and one is bent at the cross tube.
The arm cylinders are fully retracted within themselves so I'm really hoping they'll just need seal kits. Those are next on the take apart list.
There is also some parts missing so I'll have to fabricate those, new nuts and bolts as well as hitch pins are on the list of things to do.
This will be a long process so be patient.
Here it is fresh off my truck.

This one is so I know what line goes where later but is also shows how bad this really is. Dirt, rust and dry rotted hoses. The hoses were crumbling while I was taking them off.

More disassembly.

Valve and bucket cylinders all cleaned up.

Here's a better picture showing the condition of the rods, the dings are from taking it apart. I wasn't concerned about being too careful with them because they need replacing.
Note also the stamping on the cylinder body, the date 5 73.

Where I'm at currently, all the hoses are off and in a bucket so I can take them to get new ones made, the lift arm cylinders are off and in real good shape so those will get taken apart, cleaned up and new seals installed.
These cylinders are also being difficult getting them apart but hey as far as I know they've been assembled for 40+ years.
I've been looking into new pins and not liking what I've found so far so I'm still looking. I have a good lead on the rod material for the bucket cylinders I just need to make a phone call.
I found a couple of the holes where the lift arms attach are worn and will need to be welded up. Since these are 3/4" holes I'm going to use some 5/8" diameter copper pipe which has an O.D. of 3/4" and weld build up the holes. Just insert the copper pipe, line it up square and weld up to it. The weld won't stick to the copper and the hole should be good with minimal dressing up. Pretty simple in theory, we'll see how it works out in practice.
