John Deere JS60 Crankshaft

Just purchased a JD JS60 with a blown B & S 6HP engine. The connecting rod let go and took out the block and camshaft.
The engine model is: 12H802-1769-B1 (2004 model year). It has a 1" crankshaft and it is quite long to get the blade adapter and blade in the correct position for proper cutting. I am having a difficult time finding another engine with this crankshaft configuration. Yesterday I found a donor engine that runs great but of course, the crankshaft is slightly shorter and 7/8ths in diameter. The model number is 122K02-0290-E1 (2005 model year). I went into partstree and looked up part numbers for the block, flywheel and lower sump for both engines and it appears they are EXACTLY the same. So the internal dimensions of both crankshafts should be identical. Both engines are flat head engines. Is it possible that the crankshaft from the original engine could be removed and installed into my donor engine? I cannot see any reason why it wouldn't fit. I only have 25 dollars invested in the donor engine and the job looks like it would be a breeze. Could it be that easy?
