Hi guys, I've had my craftsman dys4500 for four yrs, it's got 154 hours on the 26hp kohler courage engine. It started losing power after an hour or so of mowing, it would still mow but a lot slower, I changed the fuel pump, filter, new belts, finally took it to a shop. They told me it had a burnt valve and needed a new carb. They said the carb rebuilds didn't work very well. I've rebuilt carbs before, so I brought it home, cleaned out the carb [which was pretty **** clean], it started runnin real rich so I just ordered a new carb. Got the new carb on and it cured the rich problem, but it still bogs after about 45min.,sometimes it will snap out of it and run good a while then bog again. It starts easy and runs great at first, I did a compression test, 166 and 190, It seems to start and run too good for a burnt valve, but i'm not a burnt valve expert. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. I have been hesitant to yank the head off just yet, I hope someone has some idea as to what is going on I really miss the craftsman.
