Where does this spring hook into on a Snapper Comet 26?

I'm putting the last couple pieces on the bottom of my 60's-70's Snapper Comet so I can have it ready before the summer hits. It's been so long blasting, ordering parts, and painting since I've taken it apart I've forgotten where things go. My pictures I took didn't turn out good enough to be of help so I need help here. I've got the new drive disc on. Can you look at this spring and tell me where it could possibly go under the rear of the mower? If you look at the picture the long straight hooked end goes through the back of the mower frame in the second large hole of the four holes in the back of the mower frame. What it hooks to underneath I can't remember and I can't reason where it goes trying to install it. When I move the shifter back and forth the axle case/slides in each gear. This spring is the only part left that I can't figure out how it goes. When I installed the brake liner assembly on the chain case is it suppose to be loose? Oh yeah and where does the brake cable attach to under the rear? I can't figure out what it hooks into anymore under the rear. Mine only has the one cable for the brake pedal it doesn't have two pedals. Any ideas or suggesstions let me know. I'm not even sure if the spring is original it doesn't have the clevis type in all the repair guides I've been able to find.
