While I am in the market to get me a new (or used) mower, I will also be saving up to get me a new gas string trimmer. I previously owned a 20 year old John Deere straight shaft gas trimmer that worked liked a charm but after 20 years, things started needing replacement and parts were no longer available, so she was retired. Right now I am using a cheap-0 black and decker electric trimmer I got for $40.00 from ACE Hardware, but after 1 year of using it, I am very much ready to be cord-free again. I did give some thought into a battery powered trimmer, given how small of a yard I have, however, I still do not have enough faith in battery operated trimmers, blowers, and mowers. I'll let the technology continue to develop on that and will stick to a tried and true method. With that being said, I am interested in hearing about what trimmers you would recommend (gas powered only, please) It would need to be a straight shaft, dual string output on the head. It would get used every 2 weeks for about 7 months of the year, running for about 10-15 minutes every use.
