I am frustrated with this 42" craftsman lawnmower with the above B&S engine. Normally I have been able to troubleshoot and resolve problems , but this one has me stumped. Engine will start and run including run mower but very shortly after starting to cut grass, engine sounds like starving for fuel and quits, sometimes will restart right away but sometimes takes a minute or two. Not able to cut lawn. Sometimes pulling choke out will encourage engine for short period but will then quit. Fuel tank vent good, fuel and air filters replaced, fuel line to carb & vac hose replaced, fuel line re-routed away from hot spots. Spark plugs replaced, carb disassembled, cleaned, soaked in carb cleaner, blown out reassembled with kit, fuel pump re-kited. Using B&S spark tester, spark exists at plugs when engine quits. Carb mixture is non-adjustable. All mower linkage and belt is old but serviceable, no excessive rolling resistance in any of mower or drive components. Seems more pronounced when components hot. Because it will usually restart right away and there is fuel at the carb and spark at the plugs, I am not sure at next road to take, does anyone have any suggestions? This is a favor for a neighbor.
