Hi all- New member here, came over from snowblowerforum, (Ray 1962 10ML60 over there). I now have a growing passion for old snappers, needed something for the summer to play with. Ariens in winter, Snapper in the summer.
I picked up an 88-89 21' push model for $20 last year with a tec tvxl840 2 cycle that was in mint condition. It was used a handful of times by an elderly gentleman who had a lawn car service. Since then I have picked up a junker that I harvested the self propelled unit off of and added an oem hi vac commercial bag. The mower runs good, but bogs slightly when its tilted to the left and I can't seem to resolve this issue. I am pretty good with small engines and have gone through the carb 3 times, all the little holes, etc, etc. Also changed the O-rings on the intake pipe that connects to the carb.
I have found a guy with an NOS Wisconson Robin W1-145v for $169 and was wondering what you guys think of this swap? I have read how great and reliable they are and plan on having this mower for the rest of my days (which I hope are a lot). I would keep the tec tvxl for another mower down the road maybe...
I am also looking for an old rider, I had one once, before I knew anything about quality mowers. Picked it up for free, they flipped it for $180 about 8 years ago, now kicking myself because it was in fantastic shape. Think it was a late 70's if memory serves me.
I have also have a 2003 JD L130 I'm trying to unload (too new) and a 1979 Ariens Rocket tiller. The tiller I'll never part with though, lol.
