Hi folks,
I'm an old bald headed Arkie that has been lurking
around to find info on my Troy Bilt Pony.
I have a 18.5 HP Craftsman that has reached the
point where repair cost is more than buying a
cheap replacement. The electric PTO clutch is
out as well as both blade/belt pulley thingies.
Also the deck is cracked.
I first made my Pony it to where it mows in reverse.
I have replaced the tiny seat on the Pony with the
Craftsman seat and it sits farther back and is much
more comfortable.
I found out on the forum that gas gets in the crank
case on a lot of Pony's, so I installed a shut-off
valve after the filter on the fuel line.
I like the fact that replacement parts are half the
cost of the Craftsman.
I also like the fact that the Pony actually mows my
lawn in a shorter amount of time than the Craftsman.
I have only mowed my 1 1/2 acre place twice with
my Pony. It is fairly flat. I hope the Pony holds up for
a while.
I've owned a Kabotta, a few MTD's and a couple of
Craftsmans.
Here's my rides,

It sucks when your mower goes out at the end of the
