Hi All,
Hoping to find some folks who can help me purchase the right parts.
The mower is about 10 yrs old. (Model HRC216KHXA serial MZAN-6203044). The 'drive' gave out; meaning the self propulsion isn't working.
The clutch and cables are fine. My first thoughts are that I need to replace the joint assembly. But, it doesn't rotate or move at all when the clutch is engaged, but if I pull the mower backwards (while clutch is engaged) the joint assembly rotates smoothly.
Because the joint assembly doesn't rotate 'forward' when the clutch is engaged but rotates 'backwards' when I pull on the mower I now believe the joint assembly is solid and not my problem. The problem might be with the parts inside the motor that turn the joint assembly. The schematics show a gear and internal drive shaft inside the motor.
How can I rule out for certain it's not the joint assembly? To inspect the gear or drive shaft I'd have to remove the engine and then remove the lower part (oil pan I think). That looks like a big project just to see if a gear is worn out. Plus, I'm not sure how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
