My son was mowing with our Snapper Easy Ride today and from inside the house I heard a loud bang (not a backfire) and silence. Went out to look and turning it over with the electric start, got nothing. Engine spins very freely, whether electric or pull, like there's no compression. Even though there doesn't appear to be a hole in the engine anywhere and I don't hear any unusual metal clacking/rattling, I'm thinking we may have lost a rod. Looking for opinions and direction. Like I said, no unusual noise when cranking. The only other thing I could think maybe was a key shear. It's a Briggs 8Hp (195707 0461-e1) on a rear drive Snapper Easy Ride.
