Hi guys and thanks, I have an elderly Optima 42 with a tecumseh 3.5 engine, it stalls. It started this suddenly at the end of last year, she'd run for a few seconds then stall so i thought fuel blockage, but as it was nearly winter I put it away and thought I'd deal with it later. I carelessly stacked it handle up, spark plug down.
This year when i got her out, I changed the fuel after the winter, started her up to an impressive cloud of white smoke - assume that was the oil burning off from my bad storage, and she's better than she was - I can do whole minutes of mowing, but she periodically stalls, if I pop a wheelie (lift the front end high off the ground) she picks up again, and I can sometimes stop the stall.
What do you think? Still blocked fuel line/carb? I'm ok with cars, but I'm a bit worried about dismantling the mower without advice.
Thanks, Sue.
