Coild issue on a Honda motor GXV530-EXA1

I have a craftsman riding mower model 917.237500. It has the Honda GXV530-EXA1 engine on it. I am having problems with the ignition system.
It has two coils on it I can can only get one coil to fire. It doesn't really matter which cylinder. I can only get one coil to fire at a time. I have bought two new coils, I have swapped the coils on each cylinder and I can get both coils to fire but only one cylinder at a time. I have replaced the diode that Honda uses on this system, the gap is correct, I have tried unplugging the ground wires to both coils and the results are the same, only one coil will fire. I am using the ignition key to turn the motor over. I am not by passing the switch. When I unplug one coil the other the remaining coil that is connected will fire. Flywheel and coils are clean and free of any rust. Does anybody have any Ideas. The flywheel has only one magnet on it. If you picture the face of a clock the coils would be located at approximately the 4 oclock and 8 oclock postions.

Questions: Is the flywheel supposed to have one magnet or two,( I don't see a place on the flywheel for two, just thought I would check) ?

When the flywheel rotates do the coils spark on the same rotation cycle or are they supposed to spark on separate rotation cycles?

The wires that are connect to the key switch and coils run to a point under the flywheel the continue to the coils. Whats under the flywheel? Is this a stater?

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
