Brand new JD D160 Lawn tractor. 6.0 hours now on it.
In Oregon, West side of Cascades sea level.
Weather is usually no less then 60 degrees when I start it.
Bought it new in late may, from Lowes.
Hard to start when cold. Doesn't matter, with or without choke and a couple seconds at most. wait a second try again, After maybe 4 or 5 tries it fires, Does not need choke, just move it down to fast idle, or less... and let it warm a minute.
I don't understand why it just won't immediately start. At least on the second try it should start.
Engine is B&S 25 HP.
I never poke around the engine, just use the lever on the dash. Of course I check oil often, and also only use 92 octane from Costco or other, no ethanol.
btw, it says at 8 hours on engine replace oil and filter. I have those ready, when needed. Back to hard start... why???
It runs excellent after starting.
Thanx... This is the first place I have asked.
