Hi guys, got something going on that has got me confused. Kawasaki twin, model FH531V-AS05. With a spark tester (one that shows light of spark inside) one cylinder fires normal, at idle and high speed, the other cylinder does not fire and/or if it does it is erratic. Sometimes if you leave throttle wide open you will hear engine smooth out, and notice the spark tester is showing fire (on bad cyl ), but when you pull the coil lead from the good cylinder it dies.
What I have done..
1) swapped coils to opposite cylinders ( with the spark plug )...problem did not follow the coil
2)removed kill wire from both coils
3) grounded coil (of dead cylinder) with a wire...in the case it was not grounding well
4) replaced carb gaskets and manifold gaskets
5) compression test...100 psi for both cylinders
6) confusing part here..when I have the spark tester plugged to the coil of bad cylinder and then to spark plug in cylinder..there is WEAK spark, if any...but if I plug the spark tester to the coil of bad cylinder and ground the tester itself , there seems to be STRONG spark
Motor idles and throttles up pretty well on the one cylinder...will die when you remove the spark plug lead
Looking forward to some imput on this one
