I have a 2008 42" Ariens rider with a Kohler Engine. I am having some issues with the T2 Hydro-Gear Hydro static transmission.
1st - There seems to be no type of adjustment for the lever that controls the forwards / backward movements. Not even sure if it did that it would help my issues, but I want to try if it can be adjusted.
2nd - Putting into neutral is a chore. To do so, the lever needs to be almost half way forward in the forward position which I know can't be right.
3rd - Is this transmission servicable? i.e. filters or oil change? If so, does the transmission need to be removed from the tractor to do so?
4th - I have another hydrostatic transmission that came off of a John Deere LA140 riding mower that had foot controls. The make is a "Tuff Torque" and the control set up seems to be the same, just not sure if it will mount to the frame and if the same controls could be used. The question is A: has anyone ever swapped out one type of transmission for another like I am suggestioning, and B: has anyone every converted a mower from hand control to foot control?
