The free Lawnboy 10302 that I rescued from curbside had some rust holes in the deck and the wheels were pretty well shot. The free Craftsman's engine had a broken piston rod. So, I decided to take the good parts from both and create something different.
I'm calling this guy 'Vance'. :yahoo:
The handles, engine, and height adjuster knobs are Lawnboy. The deck, wheels, and bag (the original from 1978!) are Craftsman.
All of the 'decals' are actually nothing more than printouts on photo paper, attached with OfficeWorks white glue. I just wanted to see what could be done with a bare minimum of materials. I removed the Lawnboy embossing from the black plastic engine cover with a grinding wheel and my drill. It's a little bit noticeable around the edges of the 4.5HP, but I am okay with how it turned out. I didn't intend this to be an all-out painstaking exercise where the slightest slip-up was a catastrophe. I wanted it to be fun, and it certainly was.
The funny part is that Sears called their engines 'Eager 1'....but I have seen so many people mistakenly call them 'Eagle' that I thought hmmm, let's go ahead and incorporate that! :sidelaugh
