I just bought a Simoniz Platinum 3200 psi presure washer (CT model 039-8578-8) and used it to clean my driveway prior to sealing. It did a very good job but used almost all the 3.78 liters (1 us gallon) of concentrated detergent which I think is excessive. I used the max setting on the detergent bottle control. The manual identifies a volume control on the bottle but not how to use it, and my efforts were non-conclusive.
I called Simoniz and they agreed the detergent would be used up quickly even with engine speed at lowest setting and a black detergent tip. They could not advise on the use of a lower setting on the detergent control since no information in their system. Their advice is to quickly cover the area (a driveway in my case) with the sprayed detergent and then wash it off under pressure with an appropriate nozzle and engine speed.
I previously used a borrowed honda 5hp pressure washer and it did not get rid of all the dirt. The use of detergent in my new washer cleaned up all the dirt, so I would like to learn how to control the detergent flow more precisely since it is so expensive.
Does anyone have any experience to share?
