Hey all..
I have been rebuilding a Craftsman 42" lawn mower for a neighbor.
After hooking up the new battery and getting excited about finally being done...I turn the key and hear....nothing.
I decided to try and jump the poles on the solenoid to see if it would try and start...and it did...try.
Now at first thought, I would think that I would have to replace the ignition switch, but when I pulled it apart...it looked fairly new.
I called the neighbor (he's not quite next door, but still in the same neighborhood...lol) and he told me that he had already replaced it once a couple of years ago (the mower has been sitting for a couple of years also).
Do you think that I should replace the solenoid even though it tried to start by jumping the poles? Or should I go ahead and replace the ignition again?
Any help would be great! Thanks!
