So I have an issue with a John Deere GX355 I'm attempting to fix for a charity. Their labour bill was £100 just to test the PTO switch and I couldn't handle them paying that, their money is better served elsewhere.
A local charity has been having issues with their GX355. It has a 48c deck on it.
The PTO will engage and it will cut for about 10 minutes then the PTO just stops spinning!
I've had the PTO switch checked, I've put a loop in the seat switch and bonnet switch and it carried on, I've checked and tightened the earths and covered every electrical contact I could find in copper grease (after separating them and giving them a brush off).
After that I got to thinking it might be mechanical rather than electrical, so I took the deck off and drove round with the PTO engaged but nothing on the bottom of it. It span for about 30 minutes before giving up! So I thought heat was the issues. I removed the bonnet, put the deck back on and drove round for over an hour (until I got fed up) and it never packed up once.
I checked through the service history and there was none past 200 hours - its now on 750 hours!
I've just performed a service on it, engine oil and filter, transmission/hydraulic oil and filters, air filter, thermostat, coolant (came out looking like magnolia paint).

I load tested the battery and it is right in the middle of spec.
I tested the voltages with the engine off, on and on with load it's

So the regulator is OK?
I checked the wires that supply the PTO with a multimeter and its as dead as a dodo.
I've tested the switch and the engine wont start with it up so the switch is OK, where do I look next? Could it be something like brake switch not releasing? The diesel light was on, does that have any weigh in? lol im clutching at straws!!
