Later yesterday afternoon, I got the '94 14SB out to finish the areas of the grass the lawn tractor can't fit. Before starting it, I lifted up the front of the mower to find to my surprise an orange powdery-like dust around the Ogura BBC. See the picture for yourself which I'll uplod tomorrow. I've never seen this before, and found it very odd! It wipes right off because it sticks to the light buildup of oil and grease residue.
Maybe it's just dirty because a cast-aluminum deck and engine don't rust. However, I wouldn't rule out that it has something to do with the whiny/loud wornout BBC bearings? Maybe from mulching leaves last fall? It was inside all winter, so no exposure to the elements or excessive moisture. Any other thoughts?
