OK so I have found this topic several times on this site and others, but I am yet to see an explanation on how exactly to fix this problem. The mower has no primer bulb, and the self priming does NOT work. I have no interest in trying to fix or modify the self priming feature-I simply want a little primer bulb to push. So the question is... how can one be installed? If someone could give me a part number to a primer assembly that would work with this engine, that would be great. I have been looking at this carb:
(its a tecumseh for a 6.75 hp toro if the link dosen't work) but I don't know for sure that it will bolt right up to my mower/air filter. For the mere $18 that it costs, I'm thinking its worth the gamble to try it.
I've also thought about just taking a random manual hand primer like this one in the link below, and just rigging it so that one hose is going through the gas cap and the other is going into a hole I'd have to cut through the air filter and running directly into the carb. Certainly wouldn't be an elegant solution, but if it works, that's all that matters...
