I started a new project tractor today. Montgomery Wards 12 / 38. Looks to be built by MTD. I do not see a Model number so that might be a small problem. The B&S 12hp turns over and that looks to be made in 1987. Sounds about right.
This I got over a year ago and it was a 3 wheeler when I got it!! Left rear wheel tire and axel was missing. I swaped out another trans axle I had out of another tractor so now it has 4 tires.. See the housing was broke. Maybe the PO was trying to take off the tire and poped the axle out. Not sure. Now at least I can push it around. This one has the variable pulley drive system.
I guess my first step should be to get the front tires to hold air and get the motor running. Pull off the deck. Looks like the front sheet metal is bent up. I see some parts missing. Anybody got that center panel?? I even got grass growing in the seat! Got to start some where...
