I am always on Craigslist as you all know! So came across this ad the other night. Emailed the folks and got a call back. They were so desperate to get rid of it before Thanksgiving they dropped the price from $120 to $50 on their own?? We had to go after work last night, another adventure! Traveling towards all the commuters going home from City. :(
Seems the man living at home is relative and he unknowingly messed with tractor on Sunday, oil change and cleaned it all up. He installed new plug and got it running somewhat after sitting over ten years??? He seemed angry I bought it for only $50. He went into home and left us outside awaiting lady who sold it to me, waited 10-15 minutes outside. We aired the tires and loaded it after talking to lady on her phone while we waited. Dude finally came out when he saw us loading it, must have thought we were stealing it? Made comment on if we renegotiated price on phone? Think he called her to tell her to raise price on me?? She finally got there and we quickly paid and took off before we got in middle of something.
Found out from sitting so long two, possibly three tires are shot with dry rot cracks. Mouse nest must have been HUGE, even evidence on hood top? Magneto wire is chewed badly, cover was taken off. Today I got out of work early and got home in time to help dad. Back injury is quite bad still, so helped as I could. Carb was real bad, dad cleaned and installed it when I got there. The float was stuck down, engine full of fuel. Changed it and left filter as guy just changed it and did not run enough for it to be changed in my opinion. When new fuel line was installed we tried again, fuel leaked out of bowl AND new shut off?? ARGH! Dad swapped carb and I swapped shut off. Tried again, throttle cable and linkage is tight and in op. Worked by hand and fired up. Ran ok for ten seconds and then started chugging. Then muffler went cherry red!? Either real lean of restricted? Gave up for the day!
