Well the last piece of the puzzle to call this project 'done' is the seat.
Another Bolens collector who's also an upholster contacted me recently when he saw that I have the same seat that just restored. He recreated the original covers using the originals as a template and did an amazing job- see below.

I decided a long time ago that I'm going to have the covers redone in a dark black leather. My plan was to have the seat frame powdercoated black also so it'd be a 'black on black' combo.
I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me before, but it just hit me last night and I'm kind of glad I hadn't already done the seat. Why not color match the seat frame to the color of the tractor instead? Black seat covers on the white seat frame might look pretty good and the white may pop the rear slots in the back of the frame which are kind of cool.
What do you guys think? Black seat frame with black cushions or white seat frame with black cushions?
