I have a HRX217HYA that was bought in April of 2014.
The mower performs very well, in fact it is the best I've ever owned. Also, the most expensive.
My concern is that the transmission sometimes makes a rather loud rumble sound. It isn't loud enough to drown out the engine, but it is loud enough to be heard along with the engine.
It always happens after an engine oil change, when the mower has been tilted onto its side. It also does it in colder weather, such as brisk fall days when I'm leaf mulching and bagging.
I've even tried letting the mower set for a week after an oil change, and it still rumbles.
The sound usually quiets down after about 15 minutes of using the mower. Mower propulsion speed is normal, but the sound is disconcerting to me in that it sounds like I might have an expensive repair ahead.
I would check the transmission fluid level but that requires substantial disassembly.
Is this sound normal, and anything to be concerned about?
