As the title says I finally scored a log splitter. It's a '98/'99 MTD model 550.
A guy I work with is getting ready to move to Florida next year and no longer needed it. I thought the wife was going to flip until I told her how much I paid for it, even she couldn't argue. It was one of those deals I just couldn't say no to. It wasn't free but it wasn't too far from it either.
Unlike my other pieces of equipment this one is ready to work after I get the maintenance items done. Oil for the most part.
Until now I've always used a maul and will still use one now and then but this will definitely make putting up my fire wood a whole lot easier.
