I've got a Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro with the much loved (sarcasm, although it's being good to me) Courage motor in it. I'm currently at 4.7 hours of use and I'm up at the first scheduled maintenance as described in the mower's manual. It says "Engine Break-In Oil Change" and "See Engine Manual" at 5 hours.
First off, there is nothing in the engine's manual about the break-in oil change. Does the engine ship with break-in oil in it? Am I good to go with SAE 30 oil? Or how about 10w-30? Synthetic? HOW MUCH OIL DOES THIS THING TAKE!?!?!?!?! You'd think they would put that in the instruction manual! ****, My mustang take 7.5 quarts! It's an actual known number. Why doesn't the manual say anything about this? Oh wait. Literally, I just found the oil capacity is listed on the back page at 1.6 quarts. Why the heck isn't this in the oil change section? Ughhhhhh.
Anyways, what oil do you guys recommend and should I change the filter (it says not to change the filter until the 50 hour oil change). Please help a beginner out here!
