Toro Wheel Horse 522xi tearing up lawn

My wife and I recently purchased a home out in the country side here in Wisconsin with about 3 acres of lawn to mow. We found a 2006 Toro Wheel Horse 522xi with a 46" or 48" mowing deck. I think it is the 46". Seems to be a great tractor and I have heard great things about the Kohler engine.

The issue is with the center roller wheel on the front of the deck. When I make tight turns around trees and such and even some times on uneven straight aways this 3" roller wheel on the front of the deck will dig into the turf and start pushing up the turf leaving a furrow about 1"-2" inches deep and a few inches wide. I have lowered the side wheels but it is still happening. It turns out the small engine repair folks I purchased it from had been using it and then decided to sell it due to this issue, which they were kind enough to tell us after the issue arose for us as well. Needless to say I will never be purchasing anything ever again from them.

I like the tractor and hope to eventually find attachments for it but this problem needs to be solved as the lawn grows quickly and I can't stop mowing it or afford to purchase another mower. There much be something that can be done to rectify this issue.
