B&S Engine: (Model: 331877, Type: 2371G5, Code: 110822ZD). I want to adjust the intake and exhaust valves under the rocker cover. Looking at the illustrated parts list for my engine and by my engines date code, the parts list calls for a liquid sealant, (Ref # 850 100106) instead of the gasket?
2 Questions:
1) Is sealant (Ref # 850 100106) used with a gasket or instead of a gasket?
2) I cant find an easy way to get the rocker cover off the cylinder head to adjust the gap for the intake and exhaust valves. The rocker cover appears to be glued to the cylinder head. This may be the sealant with no gasket. Do you have any advice on how to remove the rocker cover without causing any damage to the rocker cover or the cylinder head?
I tried removing the rocker cover by hand, tapping with a rubber mallet and prying at the corner with a big screwdriver. I have not tried prying under the rocker cover for fear of marring or damaging the cylinder head.
