On the 100 series mowers the two steering gears are under the machine and exposed to all the dust, mud and grime, is it better to leave those gears dry or grease them. If you grease them won't the dirt mix with the grease and create a grinding paste and wear them out quicker then leaving them dry? My gears were pretty worn at 230 hours and I just put new ones on and wondering what method would reduce ware. Is there a lubricant that won't attract dirt?
