I thought I'd give you fellas a shot at this one.
Over the last couple of years people have started bringing me their equipment to get it fixed and I've got a real fighter on my hands right now. It's a John Deere 170 with an repower Briggs 310707 that some kid tried to do some wiring project on and wow what a mess. I just went ahead and got a replacement wiring harness for it, but I've reached a stumbling block. I need to replace the leads from the stator because in his haste to cut wires, he's cut off the diode from one of the stator wires and the other wire is cut so close to the flywheel that I can't even cap it off let alone extend it.
I cant get that flywheel off for the life of me. The flywheel-nut came out just fine, but that sucker is stuck on that shaft tighter than I've ever seen. I've snapped off several bolts with my puller and bent some grade 8 bolts beyond recognition. I've tried the MAP torch and penetrating spray as well.
If you guys know of any other tricks I'd sure appreciate it.
