Problem with tubes in small tires.

A week ago I found a front tire flat on my Honda RER with the valve almost disappeared inside. I spent a couple of days replacing the tube. It's really hard removing and replacing these little 5" tires and the rims are made of such thin steel, they always get dents in the edges from the tire irons that have to be hammered out later.

All the tubes I've been able to buy for lawnmower tires have these weird dog-leg valves that sit at a funny angle because you can't pull them all the way through and are easily susceptible to getting swallowed inside the rim if the tire goes soft. I was looking for a way to keep the valve straight and accessible for checking pressure and airing and finally came up with this brilliant idea. I used 3/8" shaft setscrew collars on the valve stems below the thread. This keeps the valve stem relatively straight and keeps it from getting pushed inside the rim by the chuck. I found the collars for a reasonable price on Amazon.
