JD D-130 Transaxle issues
Purchased new tractor last year. Then I learned about undersized transaxle with inferrior oil. Made me feel like I had been taken! This spring I changed the oil to synthetic. While I had it open was looking around inside. I added drain plugs and mounted Neodinum magnets on the plugs. Tuff Torq used to sell an upgrade kit for the T40 / K46 axles. They have discontinued these. Damit!
As an Engineer continously looking to improve things, I added Molly to both chambers and some graphite to the gear side. DO NOT DO THIS! Amaizingly all of the graphite migrated to the pump / motor side and plugged the filter. The molly was very amall particle size and stayed suspended in the oil. Needless to say its back apart for cleanout. However this proves the oil circulates from one chamber to the other in spite of the dividing wall.
A question I have does anyone know what the "Ball IDS and Filter IDS" do? Is the ball IDS a relief valve? If yes would a stiffer spring behind the ball yield more power to the wheels?
