Needing some help for a guy that I sold a lawnmower to. Recently had a carb issue. Too much gas got into the crank and muffler and it was gushing out. With that being said I attempted to get the carb fixed. No help from any local shop "You'll just have to replace it" Carb kit on backorder and I needed to get it up and running. So I just ordered a new OEM Kohler carb. This gave me the time to put in an in-line fuel cut-off swtich. So back to the engine. Once I put the new carb on it fired up and ran great. Just as it did before like new. So I decided to sell it and get another lawn mower since I had inherited my grandmothers newer lawn tractor. 2 days ago he came and picked it up. Fired right up no issues. He drove it onto his trailer and away he went. Probably got home and took it off and parked it. Today he txts and asks. "Hey when mower had prob did it spit and sputter than blow white smoke and die?" So I'm asking myself what could be wrong. Other things I did to the lawnmower this year before I started mowing:
Replaced spark plug with (E3 compatible spark plug from Lowe's)
Replaced fuel filter (Universal from Lowe's)
Replaced oil (4-cycle ProSelect oil 10W-30 Lowe's)
Replaced oil filter (OEM Kohler Lowe's)
Replaced air filter (OEM Kohler filter w/precleaner Lowe's)
So...... With that being said what could be the issue? If by what I'm telling you and I've never had a single issue with this engine. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. It's also note worthy to tell you that the 2-year warranty on the engine expires in June. I would hope if it's a major issue I can get it fixed. I keep my receipts each year when I perform maintenance for this very reason. I've never had an engine issue on any other equipment like this so don't know which way to go. Thanks guys!
