I believe that I might be the 1st person to post something good regarding a Kohler Courage Single-cylinder engine. :ROFL
I've had this mower since '08 and it's performed quite well...7 seasons & hundreds of hours of trouble-free service.
Given the Kohler Courage's questionable rep, I pulled it into the garage to 1st check the sump cover bolts & the valve clearance.

Someone mentioned that an air-chisel is needed to remove the flywheel...I guess I lucked-out...This model has puller holes so the flywheel came-off in a snap:

The front 3 bolts were below spec (216 inch-lbs)...I'd say they were around 150 inch-lbs...which isn't much. Regardless, I pulled all of the bolts & re-installed with thread-locker:

flywheel torqued to spec (65 ft-lbs for the M12 bolt):
