I have a B & S 12hp I/C 12hp Model No. 281707-0125-01. I had to replace the head and have looked at 3 different sources for the specifications on the cylinder head bolt torque.
Two of them states that the torque specification for all 280000 (except 286700) should be 185 in/lbs. The actual "Service Manual" for the 280000 series states that it should be 165 in/lbs. Or, is the 20 in/lbs difference very minor in the grand scheme of things?
Can anyone supply a reference to which is the correct head bolt torque specification for the above mentioned B & S engine which has an aluminum block/cast iron sleeve??
Much appreciation ahead of time!!
