Weed Eater Help

I recently came across a free Weed Eater push mower that is broken in 2 places on the deck. The engine starts on the first pull every time and runs great. My problem is getting a new deck. New from Weed Eater costs almost as much as the mower did new, so that's out of the question. It seems that this brand is pretty much disposable when there is a problem, so finding used parts seems to be tough. The few I find, the seller seems to think are worth their weight in gold! Will my engine fit on any mower deck, or do I need to find another Weed Eater/Poulan deck? The engine is a Briggs and Stratton 300 series. The mower itself is model 961140007 18.
