I just had a friend and neighbor down the road stop and tell me his 17.5 hp Craftsman stopped running on the back end of his property. His wife drove it and the cart down back, turned it off and it wouldn't crank over but the solenoid clicked.
He picked me up and drove me right to it. He demonstrated the "click" at the solenoid so I wiggled and examined the connections. They were good. Next I put my hands on the flywheel screen and it wouldn't budge.
I thought, "This isn't good" but I forced the flywheel backwards anyway and heard a small "click" and it was free. It almost felt TOO free. I told him hit the key since I felt compression and it fired right up and ran like a champ. Come to find out it was more than likely the Bendix caught halfway in and halfway out.
All told it was about a two hour talk and ten second fix. Paid with a handshake. Just the way I like doing for neighbors simple "fixes". :ThumbUp:
